People keep saying that Connecticut has an identity crisis… are we part of New England? The greater NYC area? Many people move here for work and don’t experience community in the come-over-whenever-and-by-the-way-what-are-you-up-to-for-this-obscure-holiday way you get in your hometown. Who has time for that?
The church does. In the past year, I’ve seen our church “love together” by hosting Valentine’s parties, Christmas parties… any excuse to get people together. People are shocked by their generousness. Our love and hospitality sticks out here.
It might sound simple (anyone whose hosted a party might laugh and say otherwise), but in a work-driven culture, hospitality becomes a radical way to share Christ’s love with our community.
