Weekly Prayer July 2, 2018

Oh God, your people returned from exile, they gathered to consecrate their commitment to you and your ways. They recounted all the great deeds of your faithfulness to them and their forefathers. How you made the world, chose Abraham as your special representative, rescued Israel out of Egypt from the hand of Pharaoh, parted the sea and lead them through the wilderness, providing food from heaven and water from a rock, gave them the law and the beauty of your Sabbath day. But they also remembered how Israel stiffened their neck and did not obey your commandments and chose a leader to bring them back into their slavery. They made idols for their worship and rejected your instruction over and over again. And so they are our fathers for we are like them, denying you, your ways, your provisions, your salvation. Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, nor us, for you are a gracious and merciful God. And so we are here today to remember your mercy and celebrate your kindness and recommit ourselves to your ways. You are the King of heaven and we are here to worship and obey. Accept our worship now for we pray and sing and worship you in Jesus name.
