Weekly Prayer August 6, 2018

call us to seek

Almighty, All-merciful Father- as we your children gather together in the name of your Son Jesus- we are reminded of Paul’s words as he stood outdoors preaching to the people of Athens. So many in that city, just like ours, were worshipping an unknown God- they went through the motions but they didn't know who you were. You are the God who made the world, you are Lord of heaven and earth, you are not confined to a temple or one physical location, you are not worshipped by us because you need something from us.  No. Lord God, you call us to seek you for our good and you are not far off. We are here this morning to do just that. We don’t want to just go through the motions of worship. We want to KNOW you, to draw near to you and to worship you God, three in one, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
